Our Story

From Student Vision to Community Reality:

The Story of GVAC’s Journey

Our mission is to provide a safe, kind, inclusive, and educational environment for all members of and visitors to our community.

We are committed to community collaboration and growth through promoting water safety, holistic fitness and wellness, and recreational enjoyment.

About Us

Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center began as an architecture, engineering, and business student project at Greenbrier East High School.  The completed project was presented to the community in May 2018 and was met with the desire to make this a real world facility.

With the help of the State Fair of West Virginia, the GVAC nonprofit status was secured, a board of directors formed, capital campaign created, and a staff member hired to lead that effort.

In the time since, more than $6.5M in funds have been donated to create a first-class facility on 5 acres of land provided by the State Fair of West Virginia.  After a  2-year-long construction process, Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center opened on April 1, 2022.
